His time as a child actor helped him realize his true calling was storytelling from behind the camera. Yves received his MFA in Film and TV Production from the University of Southern California.
Now based in Los Angeles, Yves’ most recent credits include writing an episode of Ava Duvernay’s Queen Sugar. He also worked as a Director’s Assistant on Blackish and Grownish, and as a Writers’ Assistant on The Equalizer starring Queen Latifah and UnPrisoned starring Kerry Washington. In addition to his TV work, Yves has written, directed, and produced award winning short films that have screened in film festivals across the country. His most recent film, Bwa Kayiman, is set in 1791 and tells the story of a young woman fighting in the Haitian Revolution. Bwa Kayiman recently premiered at the Chelsea Film Festival in New York City. Yves is passionate about telling stories with honest portrayals of the Black-American experience, with an occasional emphasis on the immigrant experience. Most of his work focuses on grounded narratives with character driven stories and complicated family dynamics.
